Ability to develop and implement a classroom management plan to ensure equitable and effective student access to available technology resources.
The classroom management plan that I used while I taught my lessons is something that I worked with my teacher-leader/mentor to create at the beginning of the spring semester. I first thought about long-term mindsets that I wanted my students to gain as I was teaching them every day. I wanted them to essentially “learn to continually be advocates for themselves,” “Develop long-term skill sets that allow them to strategically approach life and new situations,” and “be confident in their abilities 21st century leaders." All three of these long-term mindsets were continually discussed in both my English class and my technology class. In the two lessons I taught [one that required students to make a glog and the other to make an animoto video], students were also required to meet the following expectations: listen and pay attention; enter quietly, prepared, and on-time; always practice excellence; respect themselves, others, and the classroom; and never give excuses. By following these rules, an effective learning environment and positive culture was created. All of these expectations were reiterated to my students as I taught both my lessons, and in the attachment, I also gave an example of the behavior rubric students have in their binders, which evaluates independent work, group work, ability to follow instructions, ability to bring supplies and materials, work ethic, interaction, and class participation.
